July 2010 Pets Newsletter
Dear Pet Lovers,

Pet Dental Health Month is coming up in August, which is a nationwide campaign to help educate pet owners on the importance of good dental hygeine for their pets. Pop in for a dental exam and get a 3-step plan for your pet, including teeth cleaning, a home dental care plan and yearly check-ups. Don't forget that your horse's teeth need regular care, too. Other topics we look at this month include obesity in pets, gastric dilatation and volvulus (bloat), lameness and separation anxiety in dogs, plus tips on training your bird to fly safely indoors.

In this edition of our newsletter you can find out about our new logo, websites, new opening hours for our Angle Vale Clinic and other interesting news from our practice.
Gastric Dilation and Volvulus (Bloat) in Dogs
Gastric Dilation and Volvulus (GDV) is a condition in dogs in which the stomach greatly enlarges and then twists on itself. It commonly is referred to as 'bloat'. It is a problem seen mostly in large, deep-chested dogs. Click here for more...

Portly Pets
Podgy pooches and portly puss-cats are in plague proportions! Our pets are not only living in the lap of luxury, they are lapping up the living luxury and getting fatter in the process. The result is that 25-30% of dogs and cats are now overweight. Click here for more...

New Logo and Websites

You may have noticed that Vets4Pets have a new logo. This is a part of an exciting makeover that is happening this year. Our old logo served us well for many years but now is the time to evolve.

An important part of the makeover are our new websites, which will provide our clients with improved online support, allow us to communicate better with our clients electronically and reduce our environmental footprint. Our clients will be able to subscribe as before to our newsletter or may choose to get all reminders by email instead of surface mail. There will be many other interesting online features for our clients. Please, don’t be shy and have a peak at some of our new websites at these links:

Angle Vale Veterinary Clinic: http://www.anglevale.vets4pets.com.au
Northgate Veterinary Hospital: http://www.northgate.vets4pets.com.au
Mawson Lakes Veterinary Hospital: http://www.mawsonlakes.vets4pets.com.au

We are interested in your feedback. As you will see on the websites, your input and help is going to be awarded, so please send us a message or refer a friend and get yummy treats for your pet or a discount on your next vaccination!

Please rest assured that, although we have changed our logo and have new websites, our continuing commitment to you and your pets to provide excellent care and services has not changed.

New Opening Hours at Angle Vale Veterinary Clinic
Due to increased demand for our services, our Angle Vale practice is going to extend its opening hours. From 1 September 2010 we are going to be opened from 10 am to 1 pm every Sunday. Angle Vale will be the only practice with regular opening hours on Sundays in the City of Playford and Gawler areas, making it easier for all animals in need to get help. Our service will be accessible to everyone regardless whether you are our regular client or not.

Dental Months Coming Up Soon
Like every year, August and September are the best time to book in your dog or cat for a dental. We will be offering free dental checks and give you the very best advice on how you can keep your pet’s teeth clean and healthy. All pets who needed dental work will be sent home with a bag of free samples of a dental diet and chews to find out which your pet’s favourite is, so that you can use it in the future to keep their teeth clean and healthy.

The Vets4Pets Family is Getting Bigger
We are happy to announce the arrival of two new babies to our family. Congratulations to Dr Delport and Dr Bower on the arrival of two beautiful girls. Well done and we hope that the little ones will be good sleepers!

Home Alone & Anxious
